The Housing Authority of the City of Bristol, VA


Established in 1938 as Virginia’s second-oldest redevelopment and housing authority, Beyond Housing, formerly known as the Bristol Redevelopment and Housing Authority, is the city’s designated public housing agency. Beyond Housing is governed by a five-member Board of Commissioners, appointed by the Mayor, who creates a governing policy, outlines the long-term goals, and employs the Executive Director to manage daily operations. Beyond Housing serves residents of the City of Bristol in Virginia and provides the community with safe, attractive, and affordable housing for all eligible individuals or families. Housing assistance is offered for low to moderate-income individuals, multifamily, the elderly, and persons with disabilities. Beyond Housing owns and operates 336 Public Housing units in 5 developments. Beyond Housing also administers 307 Housing Choice Vouchers, 39 Mainstream Vouchers, 15 Emergency Housing Vouchers, and 74 Tax Credit and Mixed Finance units.
